A concert project by two distinctive Slovak musicians, bringing together classical virtuosity and a contemporary guitar language through original arrangements, improvisation and live looping. The programme moves naturally from classical works to music that also speaks to audiences beyond the traditional concert hall.
Classical and contemporary music in one concert programme
Magic of 11 Strings grew out of the meeting of two musical personalities with different backgrounds but a similar approach to the boundaries between genres.
Jarolím Emmanuel Ružička brings the experience of a classical soloist and First Concertmaster of the Slovak Philharmonic, while Peter Luha brings the modern 7-string guitar, a wide range of guitar techniques and live looping.
Their shared repertoire is built around original arrangements in which classical works, virtuoso themes and well-known songs are reshaped specifically for this duo. Alongside the joint pieces, the programme also leaves space for the individual musical voice of both performers.

Jarolím Emmanuel Ružička is one of Slovakia’s leading violinists and serves as First Concertmaster of the Slovak Philharmonic.
Alongside his classical performing career, he develops his own work under the artistic name DR. J. E. ROSE, combining a classical foundation with contemporary genres and a modern crossover approach.
Magic of 11 Strings brings together both sides of his musical identity – the classical violin virtuoso and the composer and artist reaching beyond the traditional classical format.
Peter Luha
7-string guitar · composer · live looping
Peter Luha is a multi-genre guitarist, composer and music educator with more than 2,500 concerts across Europe, the USA, Mexico and India.
His playing combines modern guitar techniques, fingerstyle, slap, tapping, classical influences, improvisation and live looping. He has collaborated with Igudesman & Joo and the Vienna Symphony Orchestra, and his album Viaje del Alma was nominated for the Independent Music Awards in the USA.
In Magic of 11 Strings, he uses the 7-string guitar as both a solo and accompanying instrument, as well as the foundation for layered arrangements created live on stage.
Concert dramaturgy
The Magic of 11 Strings repertoire moves between classical music, virtuoso crossover and well-known contemporary songs. The programme continues to evolve, so individual concerts may have a slightly different dramaturgy.
Classical & virtuosity
Works and themes by classical composers, performed both as solo pieces and in arrangements created for violin and 7-string guitar.
Crossover & pop
Well-known songs from popular music are given new chamber or layered arrangements created specifically for Magic of 11 Strings.
Live looping & solo
Solo features by both performers alternate with pieces in which additional rhythmic, harmonic and bass layers are created live on stage.
